Depending on the state you are boating in, there may be certain age requirements that must be met before you can legally drive a boat.

- Florida: To drive a boat you will need to be at least 14 years
- Texas: To drive a boat you only need to be 13 years old
- California: By 2025 boaters of all ages will need a California Boater Card
Additionally, both Florida and Texas require you to take an approved boater education course before such as Boat Ed, although Florida caps this at people born after 1988.
