South Indian Ocean Billfish Competition
About this tournament
The South Indian Ocean Billfish Competition takes place in Black River, Mauritius, each January, drawing anglers from around the world to fish the deep Indian Ocean waters known for Blue Marlin. The tournament runs for four days and is organized by Le Morne Anglers Club, which maintains an IGFA Official Weigh Station and has hosted international competitions since the club's founding in 1955. These waters have produced Blue Marlin exceeding 1,400 pounds, offering serious offshore anglers the opportunity to test themselves against the species in one of the Indian Ocean's premier fishing grounds.
