The Big Island Marlin Tournament in Kona runs August 24-28 and serves as one event within the Hawaii Marlin Tournament Series, a season-long competition for blue marlin, striped marlin, black marlin, and yellowfin tuna. You'll compete against Kona's top billfishing crews, with scoring based on tag and release of marlin along with weighed catches, plus optional jackpots that add to the competitive draw. Founded in 1987, the series culminates in this late-summer event where boats vie for "Top Boat," "Top Angler," and "Biggest Marlin" honors.
