A tournament charter is different from a standard day boat. The anglers — your group — are the entered team. The captain and mate handle the boat and gear; your crew does the fishing and competes for prize money. You can name the team whatever you want, independent of the boat name.
It's a common setup: a group that normally fishes on their own boat back home will charter a local vessel at a distant tournament rather than making the run. The captain knows the grounds, the mate may handle nothing but bait — and your team fishes exactly the same way they would at home. When booking, look for captains with USCG licensing and tournament experience in your target species.
