The 48th Japan International Billfish Tournament runs July 23–26, 2026, from Shimoda City in Shizuoka Prefecture, drawing over 100 teams to compete for marlin and sailfish along the productive Kuroshio Current. Established in 1979, JIBT operates under IGFA rules and has grown into one of the world's leading big game tournaments, with fishing grounds based near Izu Shimoda Port and Wakago Port in nearby Tokyo Prefecture. You'll fish two full days with a 7:30 a.m. start, competing against an international fleet of experienced captains and crews.
